The Santa Ana City Council has approved Republic Services as the new trash hauler for the city with the new contract starting on July 1st 2022 and, running ten years until June 30th 2032. The new contract isn’t just for trash and recycling pick up the contract also includes provisions for cleaning up public spaces across the city as well as being more environmentally friendly.
The good news for single family home owners in the city will pay roughly the same rate they do now also Republic Services has the lowest rate for multi family residences such as apartments of the four bidders for the contract. Republic already operates in Orange County with a recycling facility nearby which will make for shorter trips.
The new trash contract has been discussed for several weeks and, has been hard fought by the four companies vying for the contract.
