Recently it was announced that the annual Christmas Boat Parade that so many residents and, visitors enjoy was being canceled in light of the worsening pandemic numbers.
The Newport Beach Chamber Of Commerce who organize the event said they were canceling the event in light of Governor Gavin Newsom’s restrictions and 10pm curfew.
It’s been a tough 2020 for all of us and it seems some of the residents of Newport don’t want to let the tradition that started in 1907 skip this year are getting together to have the event anyways.
A group called Save Newport is working with local businesses for prizes and sponsorships as well as local residents to organize a parade for this year.
It looks like some kind of Christmas Boat Parade is going to happen in Newport Beach even if it’s unofficial and as long as people watching practice social distancing as well as wear masks I think it should happen.
