One nice thing about boat parades is as a watcher it’s a great event for social distancing. Their are boat parades in Huntington Beach and Dana point but the one in Newport Beach is the biggest.
If you have never been to a boat parade I would suggest you get to your viewing spot early so you are not trying to find parking at the last minute. I would also bring a sweater or jacket because it can get cold at night even in Southern California.
Not required but a fold up chair and thermos or hot chocolate or coffee also isn’t a bad idea. A blanket is optional but always a good choice.
The boat parade starts every night at 6:30 pm as the hundreds of brightly lit and, decorated boats make their way around the harbor. The boats very in size from small boats such as the Duffy’s to huge yachts but all are also trying to compete for various prizes.
The boat parade is every night starting the 16th of December through the 20th. For more information on the event go to Christmas Parade Boats.com.
Update November 18th:
Due to the raising numbers of Corona Virus cases in the United States and California in general this years Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade has been canceled .
