For months since the pandemic started the front door of the bus was closed off to protect the driver. By doing this it also mean’t there was no way to collect or validate fares as the payment machine was by the driver.
There were signs posted that you needed a valid fare to travel but many ignored the signs and traveled for free. Even if you had a monthly pass as there was no way to valid it the pass lasted months.
For the most part this has now been resolved as new doors have been added to the front of the bus by the driver to shield them. The new doors mean front door boarding has returned so fares can be collected again.
Some buses don’t have the doors yet but eventually all will and the rear door boarding will be over.
